If there is sufficient interest, then further classes can be organized so please do enquire at any time.
Stage 1 Classes begin on Tuesday 12th June 2012
The intermediate level will be divided into stages 1, 2 & 3, the aim of the complete level being to give students a solid understanding of flamenco guitar theory and playing, which would entail being able to communicate with a singer and dancer at student performance level for several standard palos/forms.
Intermediate level is suitable for students with a fair knowledge and grounding in basic compas of the forms/palos of Solea, Bulerias, Alegrias, Fandangos, Seguiriyas and Tangos, as well as some basic technique. Students who have already studied with Francisco would be ideally suited to this level. The aim will be to consolidate the basics of compas and structure, explore the architecture of flamenco guitar playing and how it works as accompaniment to singing and dancing - as well as solo playing - for most of the important palos. There will also be intensive focus and study of flamenco guitar technique as well as analysis and discussion relating to flamenco guitar playing (rhythm, falsetas etc).
Stage 1 Classes begin on Tuesday 19th June 2012
The beginners level will be divided into stages 1 & 2, the aim of the complete level being for students to attain a solid introduction to the tools of the trade of the flamenco guitarist.
Beginners level is suitable for students who have played some guitar and who have a knowledge of basic chords, but who have not necessarily played any flamenco before. Students will learn about sitting positions, hand positioning and basic technique, as well as learning basic rhythm (compas), falsetas (melodies) and structure for six flamenco forms.
Students would need to bring a nylon string guitar, ideally fitted with golpeador (tapping plate), as well as a cejilla (capo).
